by Klara Kayser
HF-IS (Healing Fragments in Space) is a large-format piece of art merchandising. Four scars have been printed by hand in a two-colour screen printing process on an oversized, transparent sticker sheet.
The four scars can be removed individually and used by the owner to stick to walls and any smooth surface. The whole sheet also functions as a picture and can be framed as a whole.
Already in earlier works, Klara Kayser has used space as a body. The scars stand for healed wounds and thus for renewal.
Klara Kayser (*1986 in Hannover) lives and works in Tel Aviv and Berlin. She studied book arts and crafts at the London College of Communication, communication design at the HBK Braunschweig and fine arts at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf in the class of Katharina Fritsch and Andreas Gursky. Influenced by a pop-socialised generation, Klara Kayser works both sculpturally and lyrically. Kayser's texts are often translated into objects, sculptures, text fragments, audio fragments and poems. She reflects on gender roles and exaggerated body cultures, but also on the longing for love, spirituality and exoticism, which she paradoxically transforms into meaningless symbols, klischees, entertainment trends, kitsch and consumerism.
